The STARS network provides restricted sample submission. This implementation guide outlines the requirements for users to implement a common standard FHIR protocol to transfer specimen information between laboratories for the purpose of testing.
This verison has been built to the R4.0.0 build of FHIR with the hopes to soon expand to R5.0.0.
Workflow

receiving results from tested samples -> DiagnosticReport
Send Specimen for testing

FHIR Shorthand Resources
This guide has been automatically built using FHIR Shorthand to define a standard set of required fields that form a profile schema for specimen transmission.
This IG defines the global extensions - the ones defined for everyone. These extensions are always in scope wherever FHIR is being used (built Tue, Apr 11, 2023 19:15+0000+00:00)
Cross Version Analysis
This is an R4B IG. None of the features it uses are changed in R4, so it can be used as is with R4 systems. Packages for both R4 (csiro.stars.r4) and R4B (csiro.stars.r4b) are available.
